About Bridging the Trail

Together we are Bridging the Trail! We have created this page to document the progress made as we work together to Bridge the Trail through our class project. – Leadership Macon 2016

The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail is currently comprised of eleven miles of trail but lacks much-needed connectivity. Our class determined that we would help to expedite the efforts of the OHT and friends and partners of the OHT by Bridging the Trail from Riverside Cemetery to Amerson River Park, increasing the length of the trail to thirteen miles!

As part of our project, Leadership Macon 2016 will:

  • Raise the funds necessary to purchase an eighty-feet long steel pedestrian bridge that will span the fifty feet culvert that is used to re-route run-off water from the interstate to the Ocmulgee River.
  • Work together as a class, along with Macon-Bibb Parks and Beautification, the OHT, and the Macon Water Authority, to clear approximately two miles of trail.
  • Engage the Macon-Bibb community to promote the OHT and Amerson River Park.

Thank you for visiting, and please visit our Donations Page to learn how you can support Bridging the Trail!
